2019 has already kicked off and digital marketing has been flying. Such a fast-paced landscape is difficult even for the experts to keep up with. At Omni Online, we are often hearing people saying, “Just as I got on top of my SEO, my Google Ads are worse than ever” or “I’ve started picking up momentum with my social media but completely forgot about PPC.”

This is why an all-encompassing marketing strategy can be the only way forward for 2019. Here are Omni Online’s tips on SEO, Social Media and PPC.

SEO

So why is SEO changing all the time? Well, the main reason is that the algorithms keep changing due to new search methods. These are impacted by advances in technology such as AI and changes in human behaviour – including new search methods such as voice activation.

What is this voice search you may ask? Ever thought it would be quicker, more convenient and more efficient to just speak to your mobile instead of typing? Well, this is voice search and you better get used to it – by 2020, 50% of all searches will be voice searches! A typical example is asking Google: “Where is the closest coffee shop?”

Our final SEO tip is watch out for Amazon! Us Aussies haven’t quite felt the sheer power of Amazon YET… Since they sell nearly anything you can imagine, people are starting to head to Amazon search for their initial search. In the US, aver 50% of product searches start in Amazon. Are you equipped to deal with that?

Social Media

There are now almost 2.5 Billion social media users across the world. There has never been such a direct channel for a business to reach its customer. The question is – what are you doing about it?

One of the key learnings so far in 2019 is the growing importance of social customer service. You know how customer service used to be a private discussion between customer and company employee? Not anymore. Almost 50% of people now take to social media to voice their complaints about a product experience. Now with the ability to share posts, these complains can be amplified greatly if not dealt with appropriately.

We’ve seen sweeping changes at Google with AdWords being rebranded as Google Ads and the change in interface that has come with it.

There has been lots of debate thus far in 2019 about the life and death of keywords. Some say this year they will die out, others believe their importance will stick around for some time longer. What there isn’t debate about, is the critical role audiences now play. This is primarily due to the ability to be targeting the right people instead of wasting money bouncing around the web.

Everyone has come across one of those advertisers who can’t stop talking only about ROI. Don’t get us wrong, short term ROI is important. But it’s not everything. It’s easy to lose track of the fact that at the end of the day, we use PPC to BOTH create demand for a product AND build a brand for long term success. 2019 is the year we build brand loyalty through PPC efforts!
